More than 100 celebrities are taking part in tonight’s “Hope for Haiti Now” telethon, including Brad Pitt, Ben Stiller, Clint Eastwood, Denzel Washington, Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, Robert Pattinson, Tom Hanks, Will Smith, and on and on. And, there will be performances from Sting, Keith Urban, Jennifer Hudson, Dave Matthews, Taylor Swift, Bono, Shakira and many, many others. Sure, the entertainment is the draw. But, George Clooney, who has put this event together, says he hopes people will give whatever they can. He says “it can be anything. It can be five bucks.” All the performances will be for sale on iTunes tomorrow, to add to the fund-raising. The Web site, www.HopeForHaitiNow.org, will be up by 12noon Eastern time today to taken donations. The telethon will air on nearly every broadcast station and about 24 cable stations. It all starts tonight on NBC 24 beginning at 8 o’clock. |
