67th Annual Golden Globe Awards

Halle might not have been nominated for a Golden Globe last night but she defiantly took the attention when she walked down the red carpet in a low-cut black Kaufman Franco gown.

Police Apologies To Travelers

Canadian police officials have apologized to travelers after an officer allowed Halle Berry and her family to cut the queues at Montreal airport and check-in ahead of their fellow flyers.

The “Monster’s Ball” star was awaiting to go through security checks with her partner Gabriel Aubry and their 22-month-old daughter Nahla, when the male model asked a cop to help speed up the process.

The pair was swept past customers and hurried through security, much to the annoyance of travelers who had been waiting in the line for over an hour. Now, Montreal police inspector Jimmy Cacchione – who is in charge of the airport’s police has chastised the officer in question for giving Berry special treatment and has vowed never to let it happen again.

He tells Access Hollywood, “The (boyfriend) of Ms Berry asked if they could go faster through the line because they were late and they had the baby. The officer took the personal initiative to allow them to go through the line faster, but that’s not something the Montreal police supports.”

Halle Berry jumps queue at Trudeau airport

In the ongoing, post-9/11 aviation nightmare, the question on Montrealers’ lips yesterday was not how, where or when the latest attempt was made to blow us out of the sky, but how famous or talented you need to be to bypass long lineups before the flight.

Is a People’s Choice Award enough, or does it have to be an Oscar?

In case you were stuck in an airport lineup yourself yesterday and haven’t yet heard, Oscar-winning actor Halle Berry and her model husband were spotted on Monday jumping a U.S. Customs queue at Trudeau international airport – with the help of a Montreal Police officer.

While others waited more than an hour in line – stomachs grumbling for breakfast, babies screaming to high heaven – the A-list couple were whisked with their 22-month-old daughter right through to the comfort of their executive class seats on an Air Canada plane to Los Angeles.

Aéroports de Montréal, which manages the airport, says it doesn’t give preferential treatment to anyone – in most cases they’re not even notified when a VIP comes through the sliding doors.

Air Canada said it doesn’t differentiate based on celebrity, either, but rather according to fares.

As executive class passengers, Berry and her partner, Montreal-born Gabriel Aubry, were entitled to priority lines through check-in, boarding and security, said Air Canada spokesperson Isabelle Arthur.

“It’s a question of the passenger who buys the ticket,” Arthur said. “The fare they’ve paid entitles them to a different level of service. … Go online and see the difference in price.”

Indeed, if they were to book their tickets today to travel on Monday in executive class, Berry and Aubry would each pay $3,373 for a direct flight to L.A., compared with $216 to fly through Chicago in economy.

Certainly $3,000 should pay for a seat in the Maple Leaf Lounge, and maybe even a meal on board.

But should your fare really determine how long it takes to get through customs or security – where everyone must expose themselves for the greater good?

Mathieu Larocque, a spokesperson for the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority, said CATSA’s job only begins when you get to the X-ray scanners and pat-downs.

“How they get to our door is not our responsibility,” he said.

Berry and Aubry were properly “processed” through security, Larocque added.

As it turned out, it was a lone police officer acting on his own initiative – and against police policy – who helped Berry and her family skip to the front of the U.S. Customs line.

Montreal Police Inspector Jimmy Cacchione, who heads the 36-member unit that patrols the Montreal airport – and particularly since 9/11 the U.S. departures area – said the officer was approached by Aubry and made a spur-of-the-moment decision to help them.

The Montreal police don’t pick favourites, however, said Cacchione, and it was bad timing on the officer’s part, so soon after new security measures have meant even longer lines for regular folk.

After a Montreal journalist, Marie-Eve Paradis, who happened to be on the same flight, wrote about the experience on her blog, it’s understandable why people would be upset, Cacchione said.

Paradis, who waited her turn in the customs line, was then berated by an Air Canada employee for being late to board the flight.

As for Berry, with a 22-month-old in her arms, she could have just asked an Air Canada employee for a free pass – whatever fare she paid – and probably would have got it.

Kate Winslet, Kelly Brooks & Halle Berry Tops Most Desirable Bodies List

It will bring comfort to millions of women who are feeling guilty after eating too much turkey and Christmas pudding over the past few days – and resolving to start a punishing gym routine in the New Year.

A survey has found that a fuller, curvy figures such as those belonging to Kate Winslet or Kelly Brook are back in fashion among women.

Meanwhile, skeletal stars such as Victoria Beckham and Kate Moss have fallen out of favour, along with the surgically enhanced figure of Katie Price, aka glamour model Jordan.

Oscar winner Miss Winslet, 34 – who served sausages and mash at her first wedding and has spoken openly of the effects of motherhood on her body – topped the poll of 2,000 woman aged 18 or over, with 16 per cent of the votes.

Miss Brook received 15 per cent, while actress Halle Berry, who has an hour-glass figure, was third with 12 per cent.

Beckham, Moss and Price were in equal last place, having received just one per cent of the votes.
Other women included in the list of ten celebrity figures included X Factor judge Cheryl Cole, actress Megan Fox and singer Lily Allen.

Dr Jacquie Lavin, head of nutrition at Slimming World, which commissioned the YouGov poll, said: ‘It shows a positive shift that women are more likely to see Kate Winslet and Kelly Brook as the ideal body shape rather than Kate Moss or Victoria Beckham.

‘It perhaps suggests that it is not being “skinny” that is most important to them anymore, it is being healthy.

‘However, there still remains a great deal of pressure on women to conform to an unrealistic ideal and our survey showed that a massive 85 per cent of women are at least occasionally unhappy with their weight.’

Former Casualty actress Rebecca Wheatley, who last month won Slimming World’s Woman of the Year award after shedding more than 12 stone, said she also believed the results revealed a change in women’s perception of what is attractive.

‘It’s fantastic to see that finally women seem to be aspiring towards a healthy body shape that is realistic and achievable,’ she added.

‘Kate Winslet has always spoken out about the importance of accepting your body. After all, healthy women come in all sizes.

‘It is definitely a step forward that, rather than persuading women to set their sights on being super thin which can lead to misery when they fail to achieve their target, more celebrities are encouraging inner confidence and a positive body image and showing women how they can be happy with their shape.’

In July, another survey found women shunning the boyish shape of stick-thin celebrities.

Domestic goddess Nigella Lawson’s classic hourglass figure topped the Special K breakfast cereal poll of most inspiring female figures, followed by Dame Helen Mirren and Dame Judi Dench.

Just over a third of respondents described themselves as ‘apple-shaped’ with an undefined waistline, a quarter said they were pear-shaped with a big bottom, and 13 per cent said they had an hourglass figure.

Halle Berry and Colin Farrell Added to Presenters List of 2010 Golden Globes

Two more names are brought in to the line-up of presenters for the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards. They are James Bond’s girl in 2002 “Die Another Day” Halle Berry and the “S.W.A.T” actor Colin Farrell.

Halle Berry won a Golden Globe for her role in 1999 TV movie “Introducing Dorothy Dandridge”. She was also nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture in 2001 movie “Monster’s Ball”, and was up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini-Series or a Motion Picture Made for Television in 2005 TV movie “Their Eyes Were Watching God”.

As for Colin Farrell, his portrayal as Ray in movie “In Bruges” earned him a trophy at 2008 Golden Globes. At that time, he took home Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) title.

Joining Halle and Colin to hand out awards at the annual event are previously-announced presenters Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts, Mickey Rourke, Matthew Fox, Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. While Leo and Robert are slated to present the Cecil B. DeMille Award to director Martin Scorsese, the other stars will present awards from individual categories.

The next Golden Globe Awards will be held on January 17 at Beverly Hilton and aired live on NBC at 8/7c. Taking the duty as a host will be Ricky Gervais.
